fuzzy Companion was taken in 2008
while we were at the Doris Day Hotel.
He has always enjoyed his fuzzy toys.
Here you see him with The Goose
while he rests his head on The Lamb.

under construction

very slowly -
i'm knitting a pair of socks
on 3.00 mm "glove" needles.
Lovely, small, rosewood needles.
The progress is coming
along very slowly,
since i always have several
projects on the go.
As a matter of fact, i should be working
on a book right now - and i'm procrastinating.

I digress. Jordi asked about the socks in the
earlier post.
The completed socks are Zauberball yarn.
A sturdy, German six ply, superwash wool.
This fabulous yarn was
a gift last year and knit up
to make fabulous socks.

The brown/orange/grey socks
that are still on the
needles - shown above- are also Zauberball wool.
this time a 2 ply. A looser ply than the
other Zauberball wools i have used.
There is no colourway marked on the labels.
Very long colourways. I believe it wouldn't
be possible to make both socks the same if
that was your desire.

In the meantime, i'm at a very very dark
brown section of yarn. It's almost black.
It seems that it's high time for me to buy
some "task lighting" so that i can see what
i'm doing. As it is, i'm struggling to see my stitches.
Not good.

Christmas time is fun with a bit of snow

In tribute to snowfalls of
December .....

... lace that sometimes reminds me
of flowers
and SomeTimes reminds me
of Snowflakes.

And for many people
and poodles,
December means travel
of some sort . . .

jam is the best

Jam is one of my favourite things, in the world.


This jam,
from France is so handy,
you don't even need toast to enjoy it.
You can use it on or in cakes,
or perhaps just eat it on a spoon.
It's also a lovely time of the year to have
it with a toasted, highly-buttered Crumpet.





Even the
Knitting Companion looks so happy
when he hears me speak of Jam.
That's him now, sporting his new
Summer Hair-doo.

poodley update

As i write this,
the all white poodle brother
(brother of my knitting companion)
is packing his bags for his holiday
week here in Montreal.
No doubt
he is all a-twitter about
coming to the city for a week.
He will get to see everyone in
the Knitting Companion's social
circle.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate
and everyone will have dry feet.

socks and a blanket.
And staying up far too late
at night, reading books.

and totally Gorgeous gown.
With gloves !~ my hero !

who would want
to resist this pretty book
when it's full of Blank Pages (yipee!)
for writing your OWN story in. And of
course, draw your own pictures.

And ...
Especially when it features
a black Standard Poodle
and a White Standard poodle.
Quite like
a poodle that i live with. And his White brother.

I could not resist.

Happy New year

so, here we are in a new year.
a chance to start all over
again, so to speak.

This month,
a certain someone will
be thinking of what to do with the
new and pretty buttons from
the Purl shop in New York.




Last year, i made a Linen
hand towel. Inspired by
the fun ladies of
Mason-Dixon Knitting,
and one of their fab books,
I am happy that i made this
single towel. It has a great
weight and drape.
The towel was a gift, so i have
no way of knowing
if it will ever be used.




However, i have bought
some lovely brightly coloured linen
for two more towels.
I can assure you that they will Not be
sent off as gifts to accompany
the first towel.
They will stay here with me.

i am too groggy to make photographs
just now...
but there is some new knitting.

Yes, more Brick walls of pretty colours ...
but some fun projects - and
i've just started to swatch
for a pair of mittens.

My work-horse, 2 layer, knit mittens
have worn out. and it's
now the season
to have your mittens at-the-ready.

My friend in Ontario has already
reported snow on the ground.

This project was
so much fun to work on.
I have never knit anything so large.
It did take me a Very long time, but it
was such an enjoyable project all the way
along.

it now is large enough to cover
a queen size bed.
That's a lot of knitting.
