knit up

This week, I will finish
work on this feather-light "shawlette".
This has been a very enjoyable project and
the finished work will be a gift.

Here are the yarns that i used
to make the shawl . . .
they're both by Madeline Tosh.

This photograph, below,
was taken at the end of April, here in Montreal.
It's hard to imagine that this was merely two months ago.
We've had a hot and steamy week -
it's amazing how quickly things change.

in knitting related things . . .

Today i'm working on my latest book for
The Sketchbook Project,
by Arthouse.
(click above for links)

To find me in these projects, go to the Arthouse site,
click on "community" and that will let you type
in the name of the artist you're looking for.

Aside from my little book of
paintings, the Knitting Companion and
i have been working on a blanket,
some socks and two cowls.
The Blanket is an ongoing project that i hope to finish
This Year. Yes, that's a big timeline, but
it's been so long in the making, i'll be happy to
start a new blanket.

Below, you'll find
a photo of my new tape measure.

it's a Ginormous olive. hee hee hee.
If this makes you think of ginormous martinis,
that's not our fault.
and -
you'll see my new, double pointed needles. Purchased
specifically for making fabulous socks.

Yarn Love . . . or just the idea of it

ooh: i'm obsessing over a
New-to-me
type of yarn.
it's called Madeline Tosh Sock yarn.
To be honest, i haven't even
seen this yarn yet. But i'm just dying to try it.

Look here, at Julie's shop to see the Link.

Some knitting

I received a gorgeous,
silky soft skein of

yarn for Christmas.
It was so tempting,
I had to cast on right away.

The yarn is called Taiyo sock, by Noro.

I've been knitting on this and that for the past
Many months, but once i started using
my fabulous new yarn,
my fingers began to protest.
It's most certainly not the yarn
causing the problem. I believe that the
culprit is the knitting needles.

To ease up on the pain, I've pulled
back from knitting the past few days.
And just what do knitters do when they want
to look at yarns and designs and yet, not knit? ?

They turn to the Internet, of course.
Oh hello Ravelry, you hour & day & night stealer, you!!

Small note to
fans of shoes: Yes!
the little orange shoes are by
Fluevog. (click for link)
mmmm.
so comfortable and yet so cute.

Apologies that this
post lacks a photo of the yarn and needles
mentioned. I've taken a photo and now
i can't tell you where it's gone.

mmmm . . . soft and squishy

This lovely, bouncy pink
yarn has become a cheery gift.
it was nice to see the little hat come
to life once the recipient opened her gift.

Yarn: Spud and Chloe, "Sweater" yarn.
This yarn was a delight to knit with.

Pink and hopefully quite calming . . . .

When internet banking works,
it's just great and convenient.

When it Doesn't work,
it's a big fat, annoying pain.

So i shall now amuse you with some Lovely
and soothing pink yarn. I have no idea
yet what this yarn will eventually turn into.
But it's safe to say, i will find it calming until
the bank's website is in a better mood.

.... egads: my fresh nail polish is freshly chipped.
I've been doing some Garden-minding
this week & i believe this is not so friendly for
Freshly manicured red nails.
aaaarrrggh.

I must say though, the garden itself
is quite delightful.

spring time

I'm squeezing a few minutes
here and there to work on
a knitted swatch
for a new project.
I am planning to knit a linen
curtain for my kitchen window.
It's going to be a lovely shade of blue.

In the meantime, there are flowers
everywhere. This is what All people
of Montreal love about Spring time.
Flowers. Green. Fresh, new, long-awaited
leaves on hedges, plants and trees.
And the Grass has all come back to life.
It's just so lovely.

one box checked off

my photos for
the "A million little Pictures"
have been sent off in the post.
Hooray!

The photo project,
by Art House
,

will tour in the USA and it will
be available for viewing later on.
In the mean time, Art House
is working on its own website. They are
very busy people.

Tomorrow is the Royal Wedding.
Nice to have lots of news
reports on something cheery.

And, speaking of Cheery . . .
i found this
lovely pattern for a summer
top (a top that you wear Layered
with another top)
on Knitty. Have a look.

The top is entitled :Make Up Your Mind.
I love that.

Now there is the contemplative
task of sewing-in of
ends to be accomplished.

strolling with the poodle

Montreal has been
quite chilly the past
few days.
However, we don't mind, since

that's not unexpected and
it has been sunny.
Here, you can enjoy the
Knitting Companion as he strolls
down our street.

In other news, there have been
some lovely
sock-knitting accomplishments

in the past couple of weeks.
Photos are ... shall we say, pending.
This week, we are making a bit
of progress on a large, cotton blanket.
Everyone wins.

time to knit

The Knitting Companion
and i have been doing a Lot
of Knitting this month.
We've finished two
pair of lovely wool socks.
This week, we have taken up work
on a large "work in progress" ...
as well, have started another project.
Ok, two new projects.
I've even made a list because . . .
there seem to be a lot of things
on the go.

That's not a bad thing
but there's no use starting great
new things if they might get
lost among the "many".

more knits

Above, a light weight,
finished project

that was sent off
to England as a gift.

On the go . . .
we've been swatching for
a sweater . . .

The swatch is not
knit with the yarn colourway
that i'll be making the top with.
I can promise that the
top will not be a pastel shade.

Here is the second swatch
with
my totally adorable pin cushion
from Orkney, Scotland.
