30th Anniversary Exhibition

Here's the scoop, direct from the Gallery:

"It is hard to believe that Galerie Elena Lee,
now celebrating 30 years of existence, started out
with only two Canadian artists. Today more than
60 glass artists, nearly all from Canada,
share the luminous space, the 4th in the gallery’s history.
Bronfman award winners
Steven Heinemann (ceramics) and Kai Chan (fibers),
although not glass artists, have also been represented
for close to 20 years.
Like the gallery’s other artists, they succeed
to create art with a craft medium.

"Galerie Elena Lee’s first concern has always
been creativity and innovation. Its continuous
encouragement of young artists has allowed
glass to evolve with the generations.
Caroline Ouellette, Patrick Primeau, and
Annie Cantin are among the many recent graduates
whose work promises a unique development for
Canadian glass. Established artists, such as
Brad Copping, Susan Edgerley and Carole Pilon,
continue to find ways to express their thoughts
within the elusiveness of the glass medium.
Along with their emerging counterparts,
their works have been featured in international art shows,
where the gallery assiduously participated for
the past twenty years. As a result, the gallery
not only boasts a faithful local clientele,
but an international one as well.
With the work of 30 years Galerie Elena Lee,
has helped to pave the way for one of this
century’s most promising art mediums: glass. "
