what kind of truck did you find ?

jazz festival photos -
i have not forgotton to share a bit of the Jazz Festival with you.
The Montreal International Jazz festival
lasts for over a week.

and besides the obvious
amounts of music, singing,
guitar shows /exhibitions, workshops -
there was something i tried that was new to me.

The Camion a tacos ....

Montreal has but One taco truck,
the Grumman 78 to be precise.

I was happy to have
the opportunity to taste their wares.
Well worth it.
and of course, there was live music
while i waited in line.

i love looking at the paintings of Rothko

"There is no such thing
as a good painting about nothing."

Mark Rothko, 1903-1970

and, for your viewing
pleasure, some entirely
non-related-to-the-quote
for today.... some images.
Enjoy.

clink. . . .

i believe this is true

"Our unconscious
is really good at quick
decision-making--it often delivers a better answer
than more deliberate and exhaustive ways of thinking."

(Malcolm Gladwell)

while i was walking down the street . . .

The Montreal Museum
of Fine arts is hosting a wonderful
exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier this summer.

on a more personal note, is my highlight:

i met Jean Paul Gaultier last month.
Not at an "event"
or an arranged meeting or even
at a promotion in a shop.
No. I was walking down a main street of Montreal.
He was getting out of a Limo.

He stopped.
we chatted.
He was lovely and charming.
He complimented my hair.
It was terrific fun.

I have no photographs documenting
the meeting.
However, the public is allowed to
make photographs
at the exhibition. I will share a few, here.....

The dresses are presented on "mannequins" ...
and most of them have
faces projected onto the heads. So the mannequins
give you the impression that they are looking at you.
It's quite unexpected.
And many of them even speak. To you.

If you're able to see this Exhibition, i highly recommend it.

Pink and hopefully quite calming . . . .

When internet banking works,
it's just great and convenient.

When it Doesn't work,
it's a big fat, annoying pain.

So i shall now amuse you with some Lovely
and soothing pink yarn. I have no idea
yet what this yarn will eventually turn into.
But it's safe to say, i will find it calming until
the bank's website is in a better mood.

.... egads: my fresh nail polish is freshly chipped.
I've been doing some Garden-minding
this week & i believe this is not so friendly for
Freshly manicured red nails.
aaaarrrggh.

I must say though, the garden itself
is quite delightful.

words . . . for you to watch

a video by Amnesty International.

moody photo

Coastal photo, taken in 2008.
the joys of the cold Pacific fog.

in the meantime, here in Montreal (yes, 2011)
we have been melting in the heat.
