here and there

"The overemphasis of drugs
is a knee-jerk
reaction that's
thrown our
whole concept of happiness out of whack.

Happiness is now seen
as a lack of suffering
as opposed to
accomplishing
important societal goals,
like creating art."

Thomas Svolos

Greetings, from the kitchen

View of my
kitchen window.
The egg cup is happy
for the company, i'm sure.

lately ....

i've started reading the
New york times newspaper.
The sunday

paper is the fun, fat one for the week.
never read the NY Times until this spring.

and lately i've been looking at the
really pretty orchid.
i never would have bought this for myself
and i'm so enjoying it for
its colour and ... well, it's "fanciness".

Thanks again to Dorothy and George.

seeing inside cupboards

i think that
a lot of people like seeing

what sits inside people's cupboards.
I don't mean the chaos of a
clothes-closet, but the
planned out assortments
that people keep.
I have a collection of hand made
mugs. I love the variety - and that
every one is a "single", not a set.

tell me ...

that the material teaches the artist." (Ilya Ehrenberg)

Significance

"The aim of art
is to represent not the outward appearance
of things,
but their inward significance,
and this, and not the
external manner
and detail, is true reality."

(Aristotle)
