I hadn't seen your post yet when I asked about the museum...really!
So that's where the Vancouver Art Gallery's Emily Carr paintings went! I did get a chance to see "Monet to Dali" (from the Cleveland art museum) though.
The Montreal fine art museum was where I first saw work by Piranesi, at the tender age of 21. Not much exposure to museums before then, but I used to walk past the museum on the way to work, and one lunchtime took the plunge and went up those steps and in the door. Nothing has been the same since!
