a view from my work bench

This afternoon,
CBC radio
is playing The Marriage of Figaro.
That's what i will be listening to while
i work.

Time for some visuals:

some of the things on and
next to my work bench...

tools & materials...

and here you
can see the lovely green dove
that a friend made for me.

The dove flies in the window
near my work bench.

This is the woman ....

this is the woman
with whom i share my work space.
couldn't let the Work-space-photos
go by without including her.
Isn't she terrific?

more of the view

Lately, the blog
has been fussy about
photos, so i'll break this
photo-tour-of-my-workbench
into more than one post.
Here is a bit
of mother nature
that i work beside every day....

From Pablo Neruda, for you

Leaning Into The Afternoons

Leaning into the afternoons I cast my sad nets
towards your oceanic eyes.

There in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames,
its arms turning like a drowning man's.

I send out red signals across your absent eyes
that smell like the sea or the beach by a lighthouse.

You keep only darkness, my distant female,
from your regard sometimes the coast of dread emerges.

Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets
to that sea that is thrashed by your oceanic eyes.

The birds of night peck at the first stars
that flash like my soul when I love you.

The night gallops on its shadowy mare
shedding blue tassels over the land.

Pablo Neruda

hand crafted drinking vessels feel so good

Every summer, in Val David, Quebec,
there is a big event called "1001 pots".
These are two of the new drinking vessels
that came to us from that marvellous
ceramics show.

Back to work now. today the
Knitting Companion and i are taking
measurements
of my work & making lists. And calling the gallery.
He's a terrific foreman and coworker.

Even the poodle went to Outremont

It looks like this has
been a very good week
for Photo shoots all around.
If you've ever read the blog by Amy
of Knitty, you might know that she's been
in photoStudioMode this week.

"too busy doing it to blog about it")

Tuesday. Photographer was terrific
and he even makes marvellous coffee.
Yesterday the knitting companion
had a ride to the shoot.
KnittingPoodle likes
to be part of the action. Action he got.

this week.

and really:
if you Could do anything this week,
what Would you be doing ?

If you could do Anything....

If you could do anything this week,

superman)
what would you do ?

while everybody ponders.

Gifts on the horizon?

Who Wouldn't love a hand knitted Gift ?
well, funny you should ask,
because there's a blog titled Exactly that.
Go and have a look.
Maybe you'll be inspired.
People, it's time to start knitting.

tic, tic tic: it's October

It's happened.
October has arrived.
I went into panic mode last night,
knowing that my Time Of Deadlines
has arrived.
October always sounded so safely
far-off.
Now it's time to deal with
the lists and fuss over

paperwork.

On a brighter note - a textile note at that,
the new store Effiloche
celebrates its grand opening today.
6252 St-Hubert in Montreal.
