Especially for Linda

In case you think i've become
an insane workaholic,
fear not.

It just so happens that deadlines are
friendly things, and enjoy
clustering together with Other Deadlines.
then New Deadlines come along
to join in the party.

So with everything happening
at "The Very Same Time"
my mind is full of work and ideas.
But that is not a bad thing.
A bad thing is an artist with no ideas
and no work.

My friend Linda has mentioned that it's
very important to have fun.
Fear not, knitting cabled gloves "late"
in the evenings has proven immeasurably fun.
That, and having Indian food for
dinner on Thursday night. I even left
the house.

what and where

Fingerless gloves are
in progress, & this is what i'm using.
They're knitting up so nicely.

and, hello from
the Knitting Companion's Garden.
The weather is absolutely perfect
this week.

Now, time for me to get back to work.

inspirations

above, the Knitting Companion
ponders on his porch.

Everyone gets their inspirations
from different sources.
Then, some people
get their inspiration everywhere.
again, thanks to camera-on-loan,
i share some inspirational sights
of everyday life. Above, some of the
garden flowers.
and below, a wonderful glass ball
hanging over my table.
first shot has a nasty harsh flash,
but gives an idea of perspective.

More inspirations ...

Because the blog doesn't like
to have too many
photos
in any single entry,

here are a few more inspirations.
If not for you,
then for other people
visiting
or living here

with the Knitting Companion.

Gorgeous mug
made by a local artist ...

lovely yarn

and the inspiration of food!
here is a chili pepper:
Roasted, then peeled,
then stuffed with grated cheese
and then deep fried.

it's a Mexican dish i believe.
I was not the chef.

the beat goes on

this morning finds us with a cool,
overcast day. in contrast to the very hot
days we've had: this is great weather for going
to sleep at night. (as opposed to nights
when you wake up & think you're melting.)

work news:
i'm one day closer to several deadlines.
almost finished work on a very big new ring. After
this comes writing & paper work.
Then, two trips to the post office.

news on the "fetching" fingerless glove:
tonight i should be able to start work on the thumb.

Here is a view, below,
of the Knitting Companion.

He's having a big nap beside
my computer desk
while i work at my jewellery bench.

a lovely August day

What a beautiful day it was today.
Not too hot,
not cool at all. Sunny & not scorching.
If you had the right kind job,
you could work outside very comfortably.

Here, the Knitting Companion and
i have a brief drink-break
in the garden.

he is a very happy dog.

a little knitting

thanks to a very generous friend,
i'm able to share some
photos with you.

i've started a little "after work" project:
it's the "Fetching" pattern from Knitty.
this is the very beginning
of the first glove.

i just happened to have some
lovely green & ultra soft wool for this
project. Apparently, the gloves
will only take one skein to complete.
Here's hoping.

what kind of yarn are you ?

thanks to Julie at the Needle Emporium
for this Yarn quiz.

What kind of yarn are you?

You are Mohair. You are a warm and fuzzy type who works well with others, doing your share without being too weighty. You can be stubborn and absolutely refuse to change your position once it is set, but that's okay since you are good at covering up your mistakes.
Take this quiz!

A new week

I'm really glad to
say goodbye to the last week.

However: i'm not
caught up with
my deadlines yet.
I'm feeling stressed, of course

with deadlines staring at the back of my neck.

I'm missing the "having" of a digital camera
like crazy.

On the other hand;
i have some good progress to report:
i've finished a
ring
for a project i've been
thinking about since May.

I'm really happy with it.
Now it needs to be photographed.
(and, time for a
little celebration of "hooray it's done")

Sunday night i did some

swatching (knitting) that was not for work.
Sunday night
included no work at all.
The knitting companion

and i had a little fun with
some soft fuzzy toys and a
new tennis ball
& had time for cuddling.

Everyone needs a little break.

So ... is there
anyone going to the Textile Symposia
in toronto this fall ?

And what does your birthday date mean .... ?

This quiz is here thanks to Julie,
at the Needle Emporium....

Your Birthdate: February 23

You're not good at any one thing, and that's the problem.
You're good at so much - you never know what to do.
Change is in your blood, and you don't stick to much for long.
You are destined for a life of travel and fun.

Your strength: Your likeability

Your weakness: You never feel satisfied

Your power color: Bright yellow

Your power symbol: Asterisk

Your power month: May

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?

oooh, just a little more
than odd about how
right-on-the money this was in many ways.

This week, according to Georgia Nicols

Here's what
Georgia Nicols has to say about this week,
for all signs .....

Weekly Horoscope
: Sunday August 20, 2006

All Signs: (Eastern Time Zone)

On Sunday the 20th, pessimism
and criticisms easily flourish. (Groan.)
It's a one day bummer; no biggie, really.
In the larger picture, the Sun changes signs
this week bringing a different energy to
different parts of our
lives for the next month or so.
This is a good thing.
A change is as good as a rest.
And as the slowwitted observe:
"The less things change the more they are the same."
I prefer to side
with GK Chesterton:
"Don't ever take a fence
down until you know the
reason why it was put up." (Oh yeah.)
