update

Yesterday, the Knitting Companion
was stil very tired after his bout with the
anesthetic on Tuesday.
this is how he spent the morning.

This is the Official Knitting Companion
Recuperation Pose.

I am happy to say that today
he is much more lively.

It's noon here in Montreal, I am not
feeling lively at all. I could

really use some caffeine.

Time for coffee:

it's a windy day

Yesterday afternoon, i shot this view
of my neighbour's garden.
I thought these lovely tulips
were too good to keep a secret.

This morning I made this
photo of the leaves outside my window.
You can see how much they've grown in the past
few days.
and, you can probably tell that it's a
very windy day today.

a view from my garden

i humbly bring you
a view from my

garden. There aren't very many tulips to
be found here, so i have to make the most
of the ones that made it.
Today i've discovered that a squirrel
just ate one of my purple tulips.

The Knitting Companion and i are not
at all amused.

Your flirting style: friendly and sweet

What turns you off:

zzzzz

There was a lot of napping here today.
the effects of the anesthetic
have been wearing
off the Knitting companion.
we're both really glad.

Thanks to everyone who has sent
their best wishes to Mr. Fuzzy.

This evening, to keep things calm,
we did some quiet sock knitting.

I've been meaning to
share the photo of my first
"Lorna's Laces" socks.
It seems that every time i tried
to post this, the blog was not in the mood.
(indeed).

This was my first time to use this
lovely wool. It was marvellous to knit with.
I can see why people make such a fuss over it.
The colourway, however, left me cold.
No pun intended.
It's just too much of a cold palette.
Not what i had in mind.
Colour aside, this is fabulously
comfortable yarn.

Wednesday

The Knitting Companion is needing
a few days of TLC.
Not that his life
is unusually difficult at most times ....
but this is different.

Yesterday Knitting Companion went to the
Dr. to have his ears tended to.
anesthetic was involved.
He came home last night wonky,
tired, needy, and not at all sure-footed.

Today will be better.

up to the moment:

small update on the most recent
mansocks:

sock two is under way.
Actually, it's on hold right now.
You see, in my exuberance (spelling ? ?)
i went to far on the sock-leg.
Should have
started the heel about six rows back.
instead of taking it apart, the sock and
i are on a break.

Tuesday:

the blog has just been in a mood all week.

when i have had time for posting,

it decides not to play along.
(aaaarrrrrgghhhh)

Hello to one of my favourite mugs
and my espresso jar:

Today was "thank goodness for Caffeine" day.

What a life saver.

Did you ever wonder how many tries
it took for the
first people to successfully
make coffee ?
Lets see: Pick the coffee cherries,

pick out the beans, roast them,
grind them ...
and THEN push
hot water through the whole concoction.

No doubt in my mind that those first
"test drinkers"
sure had a lot of bad stuff to drink !

Monday ...

I wanted to share with
you this photo of the Knitting Companion.
He really
likes to cuddle up with his dolls when he's sleepy.
The above photo isn't the hightest quality. Please
forgive.
However the grainyness,
it illustrates well the need to sleep with your
plushy toys.

Mansocks: the sequel

During the winter, I knit these Mansocks.
You will be pleased to know that the
Mansock recipient is loving the mansocks.
He is even loving the stripes.
Recently, i have begun another pair
of mansocks.
I share a cuff with you here.

spring Special

I love this special time of year
when the leaves are just starting out.
The luminous green of the foliage is so
uplifting.

Here is the view (above ) from my window...

Everyone's scoop for this new week:

The scoop for this week, from Canadian
astrologer, Georgia Nicols
:

Weekly Horoscope:
for the week commencing:
Sunday May 7, 2006

All Signs: (Eastern Time Zone)

Jupiter represents abundance, generosity,
increase and good fortune. Uranus represents
the unexpected. When these planets line up or
create favourable angles to each other
(120° or 60°) it heralds sudden windfalls
and unexpected increase to wealth and activities.
It doesn't happen often. But it occurred last
week on Thurs. May 4, and because Jupiter
is retrograde, it quickly happens again on
August 29. I got a note from a family who
read last week's Sunday column, and decided
not to go to church; instead they went to the
casino. (Yikes!) They didn't win.
This bothers me.
When two major planets touch base,
it's hard to know when this influence
actually manifests. I discuss planetary
aspects when the mathematical apex occurs.
The influence could manifest right at that
time (and it often does); or it could be days
or weeks before or after. Nevertheless,
J.P. Morgan, said, "Astrology is not for
millionaires, it's for billionaires." Yup. A
billion here, a billion there -- pretty soon
it adds up to real money.

spring from my window...

Springtime has arrived in Montreal with
all its bright green splendour ....
