harrrumph

the blog was in quite a mood this
morning. it left out parts of my text.
important parts at that !

Elizabeth I ....

this comes from the HBO site,
which is the only way i will see
HBO movies.
(no i do not subscribe to the hbo station)
however, if you do have possiblilty of
watching HBO chez vous, no doubt
that this will be a wonderful
show for costumes & jewellery....

<< Emmy®-winner Helen Mirren
and Oscar®-winner Jeremy Irons
star in Elizabeth I, a two-part HBO Films
miniseries event that explores
the intersection of the private and public
life of Elizabeth I (Mirren) in the latter
half of her reign, offering a personal look
at her allies, her enemies and her suitors
as she struggled to survive in a male-dominated
world.

Part 1 explores the middle-aged Elizabeth's
tempestuous relationship with the
Earl of Leicester (Irons) as it survives a
French suitor, war, treason, and illness.

Part 2 follows Elizabeth through her later years,
during which she had an equally passionate affair
with the young, ambitious
Earl of Essex (Hugh Dancy), who had been raised,
ironically, by his stepfather Leicester. >>

a little Rumi for friday

"First, lay down your head

then one by one
let go of all distractions.
Embrace the light and let it guide you
beyond the winds of desire.
There you will find a spring and
nourished by its sweet waters
like a tree you will bear fruit forever."

Montreal web cams

Did you know,
that the city of Montreal has several webcams ?
you can find them here, at this link.
My favourite is the Penguin-cam.

Progress ....

some knits on the go:

Yes.
there actually has been some knitting.
It seems that more often than not, the blog
hasn't been in the mood for uploading my photos.
Above is my Knits-to-Go bag.

and, here
is a view of the Knitting Companion on the go:

Midweek arrives with the good news of:

Back to work now.

the pisces forecast for this week ...

Here is my reading for this week,
starting tomorrow, from Rob:

FREE WILL ASTROLOGY
Week beginning May 4

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20):
Whenever I'm on top of the world
and able to see for miles, it's easier
for me to view the big picture of my life. That's
why I rode my bike to the crest of the
mountain today. I wanted to
meditate on a certain personal
problem that has had me stumped. But
when I arrived there after a long ascent,
a frigid, relentless wind was
blustering so hard that I could barely
think. Reluctantly, I came down the
mountain and did my meditation in
the valley below, where a mild, warmer
wind posed no aggravation. There I was
able to get the insight I needed.
Now I'm passing my lesson on to you,
Pisces. You may not be able to
accomplish your current goal where
you thought you could, but you can
do it in a different place.
Be flexible about the setting.

Tuesday

We bid welcome to the month of May.
And without pictures, because the blog is feeling a
tad under the weather.
It is a busy week, full of phone calls,
messages, meetings, a vernissage and paperwork.
I leave you with this lovely quote:

"Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I--I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference."
(The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost)

A view of Montreal in the summer.

You're quite right, this has nothing to do
with the Knitting Companion or our
daily life. this was an attempt to bring
a touch of class to the blog.

the forecast for this week,

from Canadian astrologer: Georgia Nicols site,

Weekly Horoscope: Sunday April 30, 2006

All Signs: (Eastern Time Zone)

It's an exciting week!
The planets are on great terms with each other.
Venus moves to Aries, and Mercury
shifts to Taurus. But what we'll all
applaud is a warm handshake between
lucky Jupiter and wild, wacky Uranus.
Yay! This means each of us will expand
our world in different ways according to
our birthday. Some will have good luck
gambling; others will grow through
travel and learning. Opportunities abound
for stimulating, new situations,
surprise windfalls, promotions,
and sudden chances to experience life
in a more thrilling and liberating way.
Jupiter is good fortune: Uranus rules all
things quick and unexpected.
We like this combo! This is good news,
especially if you feel the bucks
always stops before it reaches you.
