mansock: Evidence

Since this is my first experience knitting a Mansock,
you may be wondering why i'm going
on about how Big
the Creation is.

here you go, photographic evidence.

Will you look at the Size of That:

No Trick photography, no special lenses,
this is how Long and How Wide
the still-on-the-needles Mansock really is.
those tiny out of focus (because they are so far away) things at end of sock are actually my fingers.

nice view for detailing. Zara merino, lovely shade of green, don't you think ?

no, dear viewers,
the sock is not really flat or baggy, it
only appears so in this photo because
it is not being modelled by man foot.
it is being modelled by my hand and arm.

Happy Knitting.

woven. Kidd. Mohair....

Wednesday evening,
i had the marvellous fortune to meet Audrey.

Audrey you may recall from Claquee's blog,
has a farm, with Goats -
and the very talented Audrey is a Weaver.
this is the fruit of Audrey's labour & love.

suffice to say that the knitting companion is not alone in loving this beautiful creation.

socktoberfest & the future ...

Yesterday I decided that i will make January my
Knittin' Mitten Month.
What do you think ?

in the meantime, Socktoberfest is of course rolling along at full speed.
i still need more socks, so i am not ready to start mittening in full force.
not Yet.

Today i found anny's post about her newly completed mittens.
they are fabulous & i bet you would all like to touch their fuzzy
softicity. i would !

Socktoberfest Friday.

the Man-Sock is still in progress.
yes, i'm still on the first sock.
My goodness, but a man-sock certainly
takes a lot of ... stitches. I'm using Zara's superfine merino, not Regular Sock yarn. i didn't want this to be a six month knitting project.

To answer the questions from the Comments:
the sock from Tuesday's posting (october 18),
was made with another Regia yarn.
i haven't washed/blocked them yet. they'll get blocked this weekend.

The knitting companion is having a little relaxing time this morning.
we've just come back from a walk through the neighbourhood. The sky is bright,
the air is brisk and the coloured leaves are gently floating to the ground.

Montreal is experiencing a
wonderfully sunny day today.

Yesterday the sunshine was back with us after a prolonged absence.

Happy Socktoberfest ...

and the sock love continues.

you've heard me rave about the
wonderful softicity of the Mountain Colour Bearfoot.
knitting with this wool/mohair blend was dreamy.
but wait ! after you wash them they're EVEN softer ... !
they are delicious to wear.

and yes, i'm wearing a pair now.
mmmm.

That's the knitting companion holding my feet.
he is in the mood to be held. even if it's just by
part of me.

i started a new sock last night at my Guild meeting;
using the self striping Online yarn that was shown yesterday in the blog.
have never used Online before.

the Knitting Companion is tuckered out from a romp with his best friend.

Still no electrician.
Still we wait.

tonight is the Montreal Knits meet.
I will be there, even if it is for a Very Brief visit.
i'd like to show Mona my Mansock-in-progress.
and yes, i am sure she shake her head in disbelief that
i still can't get a button on my blog.
Tut, tut.

cupcakes

in the Gazette today,
montreal's daily english paper,
there's a story about Female Entrepreneurs.
Donna Malin is pictured - she runs
a bakery that specializes in sugar free desserts.
she's pictured in front of a table covered in CUP CAKES.
oooooh.
cup cakes.
i love cup cakes. ...
i must find this bakery.

Tuesday of Soctoberfest ...

And it's raining again.
not heavy rain, but it's raining.
Sherbrooke & parts of Southern Québec
had terrible flooding yesterday because of the vast amounts of rain that have fallen.

The knitting companion & i are waiting,
STILL, for the electrician to show up today.

last night we (the knitting companion and i, not electrician)
finished the second sock of the regia pink stripey socks. !
*happy Soctoberfest * ! !

these cute socks will be a birthday present for a Very special
friend who is celebrating a birthday in a big way this year.

no news on the Man-Sock for the time being...

and in non knitting news:
i have my application sent out for a show in Newfoundland for later this year.
fingers crossed.

isis scarf

remember that isis scarf i knit up ?
have been wearing it out & about...
it's fabulously soft & SO light.
i thought you might like to have another little look ...

More sock news, since it's
Soctoberfest !

after the Yarn Galore event on Saturday, i came back home
with two new skeins of self striping sock yarn.
i got to see a sample of this first one - - and it was terrific.

3pm

Exciting Event: the sun is out.
it's been grey for 4 and a half days
and we're all aching to see the bright sun.
Ok, it DID make appearances on saturday ~ but the Blue Sky lovers
amongst us have been wanting More.
the montreal sunshine really is worth writing home about.

i'm finishing up an application for a show. Fingers crossed.

and hopefully within the hour, i'll be walking down to the Post office.

Knitting Companion

the knitting companion is feeling rather fuzzy this morning.
He doesn't know it, but we're waiting Again for the electrician to arrive.

Soctoberfest news: did some knitting on the Man Sock last night.
wow, those man socks sure do take a LOT longer to make !

d'oh ...

i can't figure out how to put a button on my blog.
yes, i know, i'm the Only Human Left who cannot do this.

and no, in case you have
already wondered, i haven't just
crawled out from under a rock ...

P L E A S S S S E ~
if anyone can spare the time to guide me to button-adding,
can you let me know ?

many, huge thanks.

and Happy Socktoberfest !

(pretend you can see a cute sock button now).

wow.

Wow is right.
the Yarn Galore event in Dorval on Saturday (mentioned in friday's posting)
was marvellous & fabulous.
i wish you could have been there.
copious amounts of wools, yarns and ... well, more of course.

i bought some hand dyed wools (photos later, it's too dark now for
taking pictures).
the knitting companion thought
that my new wool was wonderful &
he especially liked
the piece of purple roving that i brought home.
this will hopefully become part of a pair of green mittens.

in knitting news:
not much progress on the Man-socks this weekend.
but yes, they are coming along.
they're green & thick and very cuddly.
sock One is almost complete.

more knitting news:
from paris, some new bamboo needles have been purchased
on my behalf.

And, at Yarn Galore, i had the opportunity to
meet Cynthia, from the Canadian Guild of knitters !
She's fabulous !
~ and ~ did you know that the
Canadian Guild of Knitters
now has a knitting accreditation program ?
Click here to find out more ... and to learn about the CGK.

it's been SO quiet on the blog this weekend ...
is anybody out there ?
i realize you all have a life ~
but it's odd that the
blog is so quiet !

The forecast for this week ...

here, dear readers, is the forecast for this new week,
brought to you by Canadian whiz-brain, Georgia Nicols.

GEORGIA NICOLS October 16, 2005

All Signs (Eastern Time Zone)

We must all be patient with each other
because the partial Lunar Eclipse
on Monday is a Full Moon between
Moon in Aries and Sun in Libra. This is a
feisty position for the emotional Moon.
Therefore, I pray thee -- resist
the urge to stomp out of the house
in a huff - only to realize you forgot
your wallet or your keys. Now what?
Think of the face you lose by going
back. Rats! Foiled again!
Life will be far easier
for everyone (including you)
if you resist these angry knee-jerk
reactions to whatever annoys you.
Unless of course, you feel that
your whole purpose in life is to serve as
a warning to others. If that's the
case - go ahead - insult a rich relative!
